See what makes a GOLFTEC Swing Evaluation the best way to start improving your game - with personalized coaching, 3D swing analysis, and a clear plan for long-term success.
For many new golfers in Singapore, etiquette is more nerve-wracking than the golf itself. Nobody wants to be the one holding up the group behind or unknowingly breaking an unwritten rule. Fortunately, golf etiquette is mostly common sense, and it becomes second nature quickly.
Pace of Play
Singapore courses are busy, especially on weekends. Good pace of play keeps everyone happy:
- Be ready when it is your turn. Pick your club and line while others play.
- Play "ready golf" in casual rounds, as long as it is safe.
- Keep practice swings to one or two.
- Pick up if a hole is getting away from you.
- Keep up with the group ahead, not just in front of the group behind.
Safety
- Never swing when someone is close by
- Wait until the group ahead is out of range
- Shout "fore" loudly if your ball is heading towards anyone
- Follow the course's lightning procedures and leave the course promptly when the siren sounds
Caring for the Course
- Repair pitch marks on the greens
- Replace or fill divots
- Rake bunkers after use
- Follow buggy rules, especially after heavy rain
On the Green
- Do not step on another player's putting line
- Stay still and quiet while others putt
- Mark your ball when asked
Dress Code
Singapore clubs generally expect collared shirts, tailored shorts or trousers and proper golf shoes. Check each club's rules before you play.
Course Access
Many Singapore courses ask for a Proficiency Certificate or handicap before you can book, so sort this out before planning your first round.
The Best Etiquette Is Being Prepared
The easiest way to keep pace and enjoy your round is to arrive with a reliable swing. Our coaches at GOLFTEC Raffles Place and GR.iD Mall help beginners build consistent contact and understand how to manage themselves on the course. See our plans and pricing.
