Lynn never thought he'd enjoy golf.
"I thought golf was the dumbest game I'd ever seen."
It took a second marriage and a trip to visit with friends who lived on a golf course, to change Lynn's mind about golf. Up to that point, he didn’t care for the game and never thought he would. Never say never. On that fateful visit, he found himself hitting balls with friends on the driving range. One good hit had him admitting, "I think I could like this game." Lynn was hooked.
"My wife and I decided to take up the game."
Both Lynn and his wife began playing golf, and liking it. But they wanted to play better. A high handicapper, Lynn wasn't happy with his game. They decided to start lessons at GOLFTEC, purchasing a three-year game plan with Doug Strawbridge. "Lynn wanted a sport he could excel at, and to play with his friends." said Strawbridge. "He didn't want to be embarrassed when he played."
"It's nice to have someone who can say - this is what I'm doing wrong."
Like so many new golfers, Lynn's swing needed work. He sliced, and didn't know why. "It could be the smallest thing," said Lynn. "You get really frustrated with it." Working with his Coach, Lynn learned why the golf ball sliced the way it did, learned to control the ball and make better contact. "The biggest surprise was how quickly I improved."
"Once he really learned how to control the golf ball, then we took it to how to play at a higher level," said Coach Strawbridge.
"I played in the World Amateur Golfers Championship last year."
Last year, Lynn and his wife won nine nationals and their individual flights, qualifying for an all expense paid trip to play in the finals of the World Amateur Golfers Championship in Malaysia. He's a +2 to 2 handicap. "I owe it all to Doug. Not only do we work in the bays, he comes out to play a round of golf, teaching us on the course. It really helps a lot because you need to do that to work on your short game, and he's there to tell us what we're doing wrong. I would still be a 16 handicap if it weren't for him. If you want to improve your game, this is the place to do it."
At a GOLFTEC Swing Evaluation you will see your swing in a completely new light, providing a clear path to improvement that goes beyond anything you've experienced before. Your GOLFTEC Coach will use our technology that measures key body movements combined with real-time video analysis to clearly define how your swing compares to the best players in golf. Levar Harrington
"I refused to be horrible at anything."
Invited to a tournament for his work, Levar had never hit a golf ball before. He turned to Tiger Woods YouTube videos to try to learn how to swing a golf club- he was unable to hit the ball consistently and struggled. Due to his frustration in that tournament; he looked up golf lessons and found a local GOLFTEC. He's been working with his Coach Rick Beck for several years. Levar is now a single digit handicap.
